Today the daycare children and I celebrated 2015 with a pajama party! We changed over the calendar marker from 2014 to 2015, talked about how the calendar works, and then discussed how people from around the world celebrate the New Year (we mostly focused on China). After that, it was party time! We investigated two types of noisemakers:
We decided we liked the blowing kind the best, but that the crank-style noisemakers were easier to use.
Some of us had so much breath we could unfurl the end of the noisemaker all the way!
We found out we could use the crank-style noisemakers two ways- grab the white tip and rotate our arms in circles, or grab the tip and turn it with our fingers.
After that, we had some free play in which we used the trains, stuffed animals, silks, and the barn and little cabin. After free play, we sang "Auld Lang Syne" to kick off our New Year's Dance party!
We were dancing around so fast, the pictures came out blurry! We all took turns dancing with Melanie and practicing our spins.
Some of us took dancing to a whole new level... oh my!
All in all, it was a truly great time and everyone enjoyed themselves a lot!
