Hello, I'm Melanie Haley...
I've been involved in child care for close to twenty years, and I'm still learning new things from the children in my care every day. I love to pull from a broad spectrum of educational theories to create lessons that nurture each child as an individual, and I'm especially drawn to the gentle, rhythmical practices of Waldorf education.
My love for childcare began during some very positive babysitting experiences in high school. From there, I received a B.A. in Childhood Education from the State University of New York and began substitute teaching. In 2007, I moved from New York to Illinois, and while employed as a substitute teacher at Libertyville School District 70, I realized I wanted to work with younger children. After the birth of my first child, I became a lead teacher at a nationally known daycare center, working with infant and toddler groups. I began to develop my own unique approach to childcare and opened my home daycare for children in 2010. Blue Sky Daycare has been a great place for kids to learn and grow ever since!
