Infant Program

"A baby is born with the need to be loved... and never outgrows it."  -Frank A. Clark

At Blue Sky Daycare, infants are treated with the love and respect that the fleeting, precious moments of infancy deserve in our warm and welcoming home daycare setting.

Engaging in fun, sensory-forward activities allows children to progress from one milestone to the next with confidence, literally growing their mind by creating connections between synapses.  A core set of daily rituals happen at about the same time every day to develop a sense of rhythm and security for infants while still allowing flexibility to teach within the moment. Read more...

From rolling over to taking first steps, our individualized program engages infants in activities, using natural curiosity to encourage movement. This helps your little one learn about the relationship between the world and his or her body,  develops independence, and supports healthy social and emotional growth. Read more...

Blue Sky Daycare's multi-age group setting provides infants with the opportunity to develop sibling-like friendships with older children.  Combining age groups benefits all children by providing continuity of care from the same caregiver from infancy to the time children go off to preschool. It allows time for children to develop the deep relationships they need to feel secure and engaged in social settings. Read more...

Infants need the most support of any age group, but the rewards that come from providing infants with positive role models are priceless.  Developing care, kindness, respect, empathy, honesty, and other positive traits begins with how infants are treated in everyday settings. At Blue Sky daycare, you can be assured that your child will be treated with these qualities in mind.

Toddler Program

"Play is our brain's favorite way of learning." - Dianne Ackerman

The heart of our toddler program is based on the idea that learning arises naturally out of play; children's play is a reflection of their interests.  The small size of our home daycare allows for each child's interests to be noted and extended through teacher support.

Our toddler program brings process and guided art, live and recorded music, science, math, and practical life to children at their level.  Lessons are informal, hands-on, experiential, and richly sensory.  Toys are simple, open-ended and flexible. Daily rituals like circle time help toddlers fulfill their need for structure and repetition while exposing them to new concepts within a familiar framework.  This approach educates children in a developmentally appropriate, engaging manner.  Read more...

Toddlers' bodies need plenty of physical activity to stay healthy, and at Blue Sky Daycare, physical activity is part of our daily routine. We encourage physical activity through games, challenges, walks through the neighborhood, or simple romps in the back yard.  Not only do these activities build a strong body, they help children develop self-regulatory skills. True friendships begin during infancy but deepen during the toddler years.  Because of Blue Sky Daycare's multi-age environment, toddlers are able to develop healthy, meaningful relationships across ages that are not available in same-age settings. This special setting enhances toddlers' social-emotional skills and sets them up for success in preschool and beyond.  Read more...

Toddlers are incredible mimics, so we direct this natural desire to replay the world of "big people" into fun activities with enjoyable, tangible results.  The cooking, cleaning, and self-care rituals that make daily life in the home are of natural interest to toddlers. Teaching children independence through mastery of these "big people" skills gives children the self-esteem essential for success later in life. Read more...
